Chrisie Schwerin, President
|
|
|
My name is Chrisie Schwerin. I am 19 years old and a sophomore at
Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, Arkansas. I am an Ag. Business major and a member
of the ATU Collegiate FFA and Agri Club. I am also a member of Sigma Alpha Pi and ATU
Intramurals. After graduating from Arkansas Tech University I plan to return home to my
family's 900-acre beef cattle ranch in Gentry, Arkansas, and work into a partnership at Schwerin Farms, Inc.
Kansas City was my first National Junior Brangus Show in 1996.
At that time I had no idea as to the extent the Brangus breed, and the people involved, would shape my life.
Through my involvement with the IJBBA I have been given countless opportunities to better myself. I believe
that the key to my success in the organization, as well as my life, has been my initiative to take those
opportunities. Showing Brangus cattle, for me, has been more than just walking my heifer into the ring.
Showing Brangus cattle has been a world of opportunity and world of people willing to help take me to the
next level. I am honored to be serving as the IJBBA President and want to encourage every member to take the
necessary steps to grow and succeed through the organization and through life.

Katy White, Ex-Officio
|
|
|
Hi, I'm Katy White. I'm originally from Red Rock, Arizona,
but currently I call Manhattan, Kansas my home. I am a junior at Kansas State University double majoring
in Animal Science and Ag-Business. I plan on attending law school after K- State and becoming the BEST
agricultural lawyer in the country!! I'm pretty standard in my interests: cattle, cattle, and cattle; but
seriously I also like to run, read, ride horses, and cook. Watching TV is another joy of mine, and I love
to watch the Food Network, CSI's, and all of the SAW movies. When it comes to music I have to give it up to
Red Dirt Country, mainly Cross Canadian Ragweed and the Randy Rogers Band.
Cattle have been a huge influence in my life, I have shown
cattle from the time I was a little kid up until now. I started out showing Shorthorn cattle, but for the
past seven years I have specifically show Brangus cattle. I love the Brangus breed because of the family
atmosphere! Having been involved with the Brangus breed means not only caring about the cattle, but actually
interacting with and enjoying the company of other Brangus breeders. I came into this breed unknown and shy,
but with the friendliness and support offered by those families that we have come to associate with the breed,
I became sure of myself, more confident, and I was prompted to encourage other new members in the way I was
accepted by those before me. In the future I plan on having a family, and I definitely plan on having my
kids a part of the Brangus world!

Jaclyn Climer

|
|
|
My name is Jaclyn Climer and I am from Bells, TN. I'm a
sophomore at Tennessee Technological University where I am majoring in Animal Science. After graduating
from there I hope to attend the University of Tennessee at Knoxville's Vet School where I can pursue my
long time dream of becoming and large and small animal veterinarian. I started showing Brangus cattle at
about age 9 and have shown and loved it ever since. By becoming involved in the Brangus breed, I have
experienced many things that I wouldn't have been able to without this association being a major part of
my life. This is my second year on the Junior Board of Directors and I feel that by taking part, I am
able to give back to this association what it has given me and done for me over the years. I was the 2005
International Brangus Queen and that was a meaningful experience for me. Being involved in this association
has taught me some responsibility, allowed me to travel to all the places I've been able to go, helped me
to make memories with some amazing people that will last a lifetime, and has taught me valuable lessons.

Kate Farris
|
|
|
Howdy! My name is Kate Farris and I am a sophomore agricultural
economics major at Texas A&M University. I am the daughter of Danny and Mary Beth Farris and have a
younger brother Payton. I was raised on a Brangus ranch outside of Tuscola, Texas. At school, I am involved
in Aggie Sisters for Christ, National Agri Marketing Association, and Saddle and Sirloin Club. I also work
on campus in the Animal Breeding and Genetics department.
I have been a proud Brangus breeder for the last eight years of
my life and have lived on a Brangus ranch since the day I was born. Showing cattle has been a major part of
my life since I was in sixth grade and I have not regretted a single moment of it. Through this association
I have made life long friends, learned many life lessons, and made many memories. My advice to members is
to get involved. Our national show each year offers members many opportunities to meet fellow members, learn
about the industry, and develop leadership skills. One of my favorite Brangus memories is the Barnyard
Olympics and all the time I spend with friends and family at the national show.

Ben Fuller
|
|
|
Howdy! My name is Ben Fuller from Wheelock, Texas. I am the proud
son of Joe and Melanie Fuller owners of Cross F Cattle Company. I am currently a full time student Texas A&M
University where I am studying Construction Science and getting a minor in Business. It is now the middle of my
sophomore year here and I really enjoy it here! I am involved in the Corps of Cadets in which I am the assistant
chaplain for my outfit, I volunteer weekly in Bryan, Texas where I work and play with inner city kids, I am also
very involved in my church here, Living Hope, and their youth group.
I am now serving in my second year as a Junior Director for the
breed and I enjoy it very much. The reason that I enjoy it so much is because this association has given me so
much; it has grown me in many ways, such as: maturity, confidence, Brangus skills, decision making, and people
skills. This association has equipped me with so much, which I am very grateful for, that I am thankful that I
am able to give it back in return to the younger members and hopefully grow them like the leaders before me did
for me. I feel that I am fully equipped to take on any task that the world throws at me, thanks to my parents and my Brangus family.
Above all I am very thankful for where I am now and I owe all of
that to my Lord and Savoir, Jesus Christ.
Thanks and Gig 'em!

Rana Garrett
|
|
|
Hi, my name is Rana Garrett, and I am a freshman this year at the
University of Texas in Austin, GO HORNS! I am majoring in Human Development
and Family Sciences, and plan to attend Med-school in the Northeast. I am a
newly-initiated member of Alpha X Delta and enjoying every minute of Greek
life! I also, am a Rugby Little Sis for the Texas Rugby team this year. I
love the atmosphere of the UT campus and very interesting people of Austin;
I see something new and odd every single day!
I have been exhibiting Brangus for about eight years and am truly
missing seeing my cows every day, now that I am a full-time college student.
This is my second year serving on the National Junior Board; I also served
as the Texas Junior Brangus Breeders Association's President last year.
Being a member of the Brangus Association is like being a member of an
extra-large family, who doesn't look at you funny when you know how Bevo
really became a steer! This Association is so friendly and welcoming and
you never feel like you don't belong, and that is why I love being a part of
it!
As my years are dwindling down, I only hope that the IJBBA grows and
stays just as family-oriented as it was when I was a part of it. It really
is a great Association, that gives today's youth a chance to mature and
develop into reliable and well-rounded adults. Thank you, IJBBA, for all
the lessons I've learned and memories I've attained.

Chelsie Meyer

|
|
Hey everybody, I'm Chelsie Meyer from the Heart of Oklahoma,
Purcell. I have lived in Purcell my entire life. I am very active in my high school. I love God, sports,
showing, and spending time with my friends and family. I currently serve as our FFA chapter Secretary. I have
been born and raised in the cattle business. The Brangus breed itself has had such a great impact on my
life. My Grandparents, Bill & Velma Bacon, started out in 1968 with a single show heifer for my uncle. These
days my pal-pa has down sized to several registered Brangus cattle. My dad runs over one hundred head of
registered Brangus on our ranch. I have shown cattle for eight years, and I think that I have learned more
from my experiences with cattle then most other things. I hope that if you are ever given an opportunity to
show any animal that you will take it because you can learn so much. Hope to see you all at Junior Nationals!

Haley Weiss
|
|
|
|
Hello Brangus Breeders, I am Haley Weiss,16 years old and from
the small town of Kilgore,Texas. I was born in California around the Sacramento area. My grandfather and dad
showed Red Brahman cattle which I showed and helped tend to starting at a very young age. My family always
told me how much they learned and enjoyed from showing cattle, so as a 9 year old I got MY 1st show heifer.
Since then I have shown many breeds but have come to find out Brangus cattle and Brangus breeders have to be
the most amazing. I have shown cattle in 5 different states and also have been to three different breeds nationals.
This will be my fourth year to exhibit and show Brangus cattle. I feel very privileged to be on the IJBBA board
serving as your secretary and showing Brangus cattle. Some of you may know I am one of the youngest board members
ever but age has never stopped me from achieving my goals. I take the breed very serious but love to have fun and
socialize. I have met so many wonderful people and have learned so much. I will try my best to help and improve
the breed to my best abilities. I look forward to the next few years and if you have any questions feel free to email me.
